Workshop "Science Communication in the scope of XVIII Jornadas de Biologia Aplicada - 10/2/17

Comunica"Science Communication - Why, how and for whom to talk about Science" was a dynamic (theoretical and problem solving) 2 hour workshop, in the scope of the XVIII Conference of Applied Biology, held by STOL (Alexandra Nobre, Daniel Ribeiro and Andreia Pacheco). The Workshop main goals were: to present several approaches to communicate science to the general public and to provide some tools for the dissemination of research work (in order to allow better interaction with the different target audiences). Why do the seminars of scientists seem all the same to you? How many times have you watched the presentations about what should have been an inspiring theme, just to be packed to the rhythm of a monotonious tone of scientific jargon? While scientists are considered "domains of authority", science and technology (S & T) are often called into question, for example on issues such as vaccination or climate change. This challenge reflects the way in which S & T is sometimes miscommunicated in society and therefore not understood by the common public.
