The CBMA researcher Raúl Machado won the first prize on the SpinUM Competition with the project "euPA". The "SpinUM - Business Ideas Competition" is an initiative promoted by TecMinho Spinpark and now in its third year. The seven ideas finalists in the third edition of SpinUM came from the areas of Biotechnology, Textile Engineering, Electronics, Physics and Health Sciences
The winning idea of the "1st Prize SpinUM" was "euPA / I need Help - Monitoring System Health and Emergency Locator for GPS". Its promoters Lino Machado, Raul Machado, Evandro Oliveira and Carlos Oliveira developed the solution euPA, which facilitates communication between the patient and the platform of health providing services, in real time by monitoring the heart rate of the consumer via a mobile device.
The 2010 edition of the Contest SpinUM distributed cash prizes and services offered to support the creation of companies with a total value exceeding 20,000€.
Directed to the community of researchers, students and alumni of the University of Minho, SpinUM Contest aims to reward and support the most innovative business ideas and greater potential generated at the University of Minho in any scientific or technological. It's the second year in a row that a researcher from CBMA wins this competition.
